Shelter for Social Development (SSD) is a non-profit organization committed to fostering sustainable growth and social equity across Bangladesh.
Shelter for Social Development (SSD) is a non-profit, humanitarian development organization established on January 1, 2015, through the initiative of a group of committed and socially conscious development activists in Dhaka District. The organization is currently led by Ms. Rahima Hossain, who possesses extensive experience in the national and international development sectors.
Since its inception, SSD has focused on income-generating activities, primary healthcare, and educational initiatives for the rural poor. Over time, the organization has expanded its activities to multiple districts across Bangladesh through demand-driven and community-based approaches.
To promote self-reliance, rights, and well-being among disadvantaged communities, SSD implements awareness, empowerment, and participatory development programs — focusing particularly on women, children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and youth.
Guided by the spirit of partnership and inclusion, SSD continues its journey toward building an equitable, sustainable, and environmentally conscious society.
