The Beginning
Founded in Dhaka with 5 staff members, focusing on women's empowerment in Rangpur, reaching 50 women with microfinance training.
First 50 women empowered
True development happens when communities write their own stories of change.
Shelter for Social Development (SSD) began in 2015 with a simple yet powerful belief: that every person, regardless of their circumstances, deserves the opportunity to build a better life. What started as a small initiative in a single village has grown into a movement spanning 12 districts, touching the lives of thousands of families across Bangladesh.
Our journey has been shaped by the courage of the women we've empowered, the curiosity of the children we've educated, and the resilience of the communities we've served.
